Which file do I send to Walgreens or a print shop?
Send the PDF to a copy and print shop, and the PNG to a photo service. A print shop prints the PDF at 100%, at its exact size, with nothing to scale or crop. Photo services such as Walgreens Photo take image files but not PDFs, so upload the PNG there, in the size you want printed.

At a copy and print shop
Copy and print shops such as Staples or FedEx Office print from PDFs. Bring or upload the PDF in the size you want, ask for it to be printed at 100% (“actual size”) with no scaling, and choose a matte paper of 200 g/m² (about 74 lb cover) or heavier. The lettering is already turned into shapes inside the file, so the shop needs no fonts and cannot change how the name looks.
At a photo counter or online photo service
Walgreens Photo lists JPEG, PNG and HEIC as the files it accepts, and PDF is not one of them (checked October 2026). Upload the PNG of the size you want printed; 8 × 10″, 11 × 14″ and 16 × 20″ are standard US print sizes. The PNG is 300 dpi in every size except 50 × 70 cm, which comes out at about 260 dpi, enough for a sharp print.
